Mantimahle Male Lions for Caterday
25th March had me headed south in search of one special leopard, when a guide from Hamilton's (Thank you!) told me there were a pride of lion feasting on a giraffe carcass on the S36, just of the S34. This had me doing a U-turn and following said guide to the sighting.
On arrival, 2 male lions, sons of the mighty Mantimahle boys, were feeding whilst other pride members were scattered in the vicinity hiding in the shade, waiting their turn to feed.
I spent around 4 hours with the pride, and was fortunate to get some awesome photo's of them.
The Mantimahle boys were born in 2010 in the area of the Mahtimahle dam and fathered by the Mazithi males and formed a coalition of 5 males who reigned as far as Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve and Mala Mala, in and out of Kruger taking over the Nkuhlu pride.
These are apparently sons of the Mantimahle boys and I would like to thank all my lion friends for assisting me in correct ID 🙏, I’ve still got a lot to learn about our stunning lions
